Plans, publishing soon
Les plans sont gratuits — the plans are free.
Every design we make is published under an open licence: the drawings, the 3D files, the code and the notes, including what went wrong.
Not online yet, and why.
Right now the handbook behind this site is private while we tidy it up for publication. When it goes public, the download links below switch on. Nothing will ever be held back to protect a product.

Index, honest statuses
What will be here.
Most of these are still being designed or built. Plans go up as they’re ready, with an honest status — a parked project’s files are still worth having.
Likely the first downloads
-
Printed workshop storage
A Gridfinity baseplate and bins, with our generator settings. Upstream MIT.
-
The map-making code and test tiles.
-
The plywood box system, cutting lists and printed jigs.

Licences, in plain words
What you’re allowed to do.
Short version: download it, build it, change it, share it. Most of our designs are share-alike: if you publish an improved version, it stays open too, with credit. Every project page and every file says which licence applies.
-
CC BY-SA 4.0
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (opens in a new tab)
Use it, change it, even sell what you make — credit us and share your changes under the same licence.
Covers Documentation, guides and plans; hardware remixed from Precious Plastic (shredder, separator modules).
-
CERN-OHL-S v2
CERN Open Hardware Licence, strongly reciprocal, v2 (opens in a new tab)
Build, modify and make the hardware; if you distribute a modified version, publish its design files too.
Covers Our original hardware: Le Nez, the intake booth, Caisse furniture, the air-quality sensor, trap sensors.
-
Apache-2.0
Apache License 2.0 (opens in a new tab)
Free to use and change, with a patent grant. Keep the notice file that credits the contributors.
Covers Our own software by default, such as the recycling data hub.
-
GPL-3.0
GNU General Public License v3 (opens in a new tab)
Free to use and change; if you share a modified version, share its source under the GPL too.
Covers Firmware and software derived from GPL projects (the Plastic Scanner, Marlin printer firmware).
-
MIT
MIT License (opens in a new tab)
Do almost anything with it; keep the copyright notice.
Covers Some small tools and firmware, such as the relief-map generator and the air-quality sensor firmware.
-
CC BY-NC-SA
Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (opens in a new tab)
Build it, teach with it, share changes — but nobody, including us, may sell it, its parts or kits.
Covers The Recreator3D MK6 bottle-to-filament machine (upstream design, not ours) and our changes to it.
A note on the MK6
One machine is built here but isn’t ours to sell.
The bottle-to-filament machine is the Recreator3D MK6, designed by Joshua R. Taylor under a non-commercial licence. We can build it, film it, teach with it and share our changes. Nobody — us included — may sell it, its parts or kits of it. That’s why our first kit will be something we designed ourselves.
The MK6 projectHow it stays free
The knowledge is free. Only convenience is sold.
Anyone can build any project from the published files without paying anything. Later, we may sell simple kits for people who’d rather not order twelve small parts from three countries, and run workshops for visitors. A kit never buys access to a design, and early access never becomes exclusive access.
Rebuilt elsewhere
Built one of ours? Tell us.
Designs rebuilt elsewhere are one of the five ways we judge success. Send us what you changed, what broke and what you’d do differently. With your permission, we’ll credit you by name.
